BIG APPLE NOT SMOKER FRIENDLY

Temecula, CA – There is shocking news to report. The ‘war on drugs’ is being ramped up as Obama and his political strategists figure not many pot smokers will re-elect the asshole who used their vote to climb aboard and drive the bus then threw them under it. To clean out the nation’s most populous town, the place everyone seems to want to make a big splash in, the Big Apple, Barack’s Boyz have found a technical to bust more blacks and browns in the 5 boroughs. Tourists beware, particularly if you are not white and you smoke pot for any reason. Leave the weed and the medical card locked in your garment bag. Here’s why:

More people were arrested last year in New York City on charges of marijuana possession than during the entire 19-year period from 1978 to 1996, according to an analysis released this morning by the Drug Policy Alliance*. Last year, the sixth year in a row that marijuana possession arrests increased, 50,383 people were arrested, according to a report recently released by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services and obtained by the policy alliance**, which advocates for reform of drug laws.

The figure adds up to 140 arrests a day, making marijuana possession the leading reason for arrest in the city, and represents an 8 percent increase over 2009 and a 69 percent increase since 2005, the alliance reported in a statement issued Thursday.

From 1978 to 1996, there were 49,326 marijuana possession arrests, according to an analysis for the alliance** done by Harry Levine, a sociology professor at Queens College and an expert on marijuana enforcement. The increased enforcement, the policy alliance says, is due not to increasing consumption, but to harsher enforcement and racial profiling.

“Over the last 20 years, N.Y.P.D. has quietly made arrests for marijuana their top enforcement priority, without public acknowledgment or debate,” the group said.

There have been about 350,000 arrests for marijuana possession since Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg took office in 2002, the policy alliance** said. Seventy percent of those arrested are younger than 30, and 86 percent are black or Latino, even though, according to the Drug Policy Group, “young whites use marijuana at higher rates.” Possession of less than 25 grams of marijuana has been a violation, not a jail time crime, in New York since 1977. But having the drug “open to public view” is a crime, and advocates say that many people who simply have marijuana in their pockets are charged with having it in the open ‘after officers order them to empty their pockets’.

Though the state/city law is next to nothing for possession, this ‘city speed trap’ is not something you want to ruin your time on Broadway. Tourists beware, particularly if you are not white and you smoke pot for any reason. When venturing out from the hotel or a friend’s place in the city, leave your weed and medical card at home. Don’t be the droids that they are looking for. “Don’t be the woman in the red dress”

(* - The Drug Alliance. The group only those deepest in the forest know of. This is the political policy reform arm of Monsanto and George Soros. One of my ‘secret squirrels’ provided the Tron style flashback link to my original contact with the Alliance when it was under a different name in the days when the Soros connection meant something to maybe 10 people on the planet, before the internet. The stated goal of the chemical giant is to control the untapped hemp/marijuana market by having all cannabis grown with GM seeds from Monsanto. When this goal is accomplished, marijuana/hemp will be unrestricted for all to use in whatever fashion is available. The Alliance is helping to lead the fight against the Feds prohibition of cannabis.

** - In order to lessen the notice of the Alliance as The Alliance, a marketing ploy to downplay the organization’s existence in MSM print/media reports is under way. By denoting the alliance as a noun rather than a proper noun which it is in reality, the specific group becomes a common thought occurrence. This insidious plan moves through the marijuana movement in the circles that deal with the public. It is truly Satan being public as in The Advocate. Forced to deal with the Devil for support against the Fed/Pharma/Cotton/Liquor/Judicial system, many of the actual reform organizations are forced to publicly pose with alliance members who do provide a needed service while privately wondering about the bigger game plan. Many I have talked to privately simply hope the companies will finally provide use unrestricted and hassle free.

In the fight over, for, and against Mary Jane, the scenario is much akin to the epic movie, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. “The War on Drugs is a war on poor people using street drugs waged by rich people on prescription drugs.” – Roseanne Barr
